Described in this section are the five things above in the title. Look it over with your newer scout.
Scout Motto
Be Prepared
A Scout should be prepared for anything that may possibly occur.
Slogan
Do a good turn daily
Help someone of or do a good deed everyday. Do so without expecting pay or reward
Scou Oath
On my Honor, I will do my best to
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physicall strong, mentally awake, and morally strait.
A Scout is...
Trustworthy
The way I always defined trustworthy was to be worthy of someones trust. You are worthy of their trust by following all
of the ideals that scouting teaches you.
Loyal
There has always been one word I have used to describe loyal. That word is true. A scout is true or loyal to his friends,
amily, troop, patrol, school, teachers, country, etc.
Helpful
whenever you see someone struggling, or even performing a task as simple as pitching a tent, you should always offer to
pitch in and assist that person without expecting pay or reward.
Friendly
A scout is a friend to all. A scout is not biased when choosing his friendships.
Courteous
There are two words I use to describe courteous, polite and mannerly. This point basically means that a scout is polite
to everyone and has good manners.
Kind
A scout lives by the golden rule... Treat others as you wish to be treated
Obediant
A scout listens to his parents, teachers, senior patrol leaders, patrol leaders, scoutmasters, local laws, etc, because
he realizes that they say things for a reason.
Cheerful
A scout always has a smile on his face. When others are down or depressed, he brightens up the crowd. He does tasks and
serves others happily.
Thrifty
A scout conserves, saves, and plans.
Brave
A scout can face danger while in fear. He stands up for what he believes in no matter what harassment may follow.
Clean
This means that a scouts body is physically clean, his thoughts are clean, and his language is clean.
Reverent
A scout does his duty to God.
Outdoor Code
As an American, I will do my best to:
Be clean in my outdoor manners.
Be careful with fire.
Be considerate in the outdoors.
Be conservation-minded
